Vivid Sydney

Only eleven sleeps until Vivid Sydney

Only eleven sleeps until Vivid Sydney 2015.

By the time you get to a certain age, the many wonders of childhood have long faded: the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, unicorns …

Then, Vivid Sydney happened in 2009 and some of that childhood wonder was revived for all. Vivid is now an annual outdoor festival of amazing immersive light installations and projections in one of the world’s most picturesque locations, around Sydney’s Circular Quay. In recent years the event expanded to Martin Place in the city, Darling Harbour and the Carriageworks.

Although I would prefer if this event was held during a slightly warmer time of the year, there is a certain magic in having to rug up a little as you head out for the evening. Vivid had fast become a highly anticipated event on Sydney’s public art calendar and it has gained huge popularity with young and old alike. There is something truly magical about the installations lighting up the city and reflecting across the harbour.

Vivid Sydney is a kaleidoscope of colour, light, music and movement and it brings magic to children of all ages, from one to a hundred.

2015 will also be another big year of Vivid music, with close to eighty musical events scheduled. Grace Jones will perform at the Carriageworks, and other performers during the festival will include Morrissey and Daniel Johns at the Sydney Opera House.

There are plenty of free events, and there is something for everyone on the program. This year Vivid will run from Friday, 22 May until Monday, 8 June.

If you need a little magic in your life, make sure not to miss it!
