Creme Brûlée Pâtisserie

Secret Sydney: Crème Brûlée Pâtisserie

Crème Brûlée PâtisserieSydney harbours a plethora of amazing experiences.

Some are well-known, others are truly hidden away and known only by the initiated, and there are those in plain sight yet missed by most. ‘Secret Sydney’ reveals some of my favourite Sydney spots from cafés to restaurants, bars, parks and cultural experiences.

The Crème Brûlée Pâtisserie is a fabulous café and unique cultural experience rolled into one, tucked away on a leafy corner of exclusive Bellevue Hill, just a few minutes stroll from Cooper Park.

Established in 1995 by master pâtissier Nira Fernando, this exquisite pâtisserie caters for the rich and famous of Sydney. And then there are the visiting international stars who swing by to take a lesson from Fernando in the sweet arts.

Over the years the pâtisserie extended its range to include tasty hot breakfast dishes, fresh light lunches, take away dinners and catering parties and special events.

But it’s not just the locals in the know who are impressed. As you would expect from a pâtisserie named after that sweetest and creamiest of treats, the crème brûlée, Fernando’s crème brûlée has long been recognised as one of the best in Sydney, by no less than The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Living.

The Crème Brûlée Pâtisserie is genuinely one of those places where you can’t make a wrong choice, and everything is so good it’s hard to choose a particular favourite.

For a light snack, Fernando’s beautiful pies, mini pizettas, or mini hot dogs are a perfect pick. For a light lunch, our favourites are his freshly made poached chicken and Brie baguettes.

Usually, while we wait for our baguettes to be prepared, we treat ourselves to a mini hot dog … or two.

When it comes to desserts, the crème brûlée is a creamy, vanilla flavour explosion with the perfect crunchy top. If you are in the mood for a cake, Fernando’s unique baked white chocolate cheese cake will literally melt in your mouth.

The other must try regular sweet items are the macadamia boats, and the chocolate hedgehogs.

Fernando’s seasonal specials are also spectacular, from his Bûche de Noël and Stollen at Christmas, to the Easter hot cross buns.

But, be warned – once you try the Crème Brûlée Pâtisserie, you will never be able to stay away for too long.
