Bernasconi's

Secret Sydney: Bernasconi’s

Sydney harbours a plethora of amazing experiences.

Some are well-known, others are truly hidden away and known only by the initiated, and there are those in plain sight yet missed by most.

Bernasconi’s is a peaceful, low-key neighbourhood gem in leafy, harbour-side Rose Bay, serving its loyal clientele for over two decades.

There is nothing quite like a Saturday or Sunday morning stroll down tree-lined O’Sullivan Road towards Rose Bay, and stopping along the way for the prefect brunch at Bernasconi’s.

The art deco design of the Cafe, combined with the relaxed and friendly service and the quiet outlook to Woollahra Golf Club, offers a tranquility otherwise in short supply in a big, bustling city.

The food is outstanding at Bernasconi’s and it all starts with quality, organic, and free-range ingredients.

It is fascinating to watch the tiny open kitchen turn out food that makes your taste buds dance and then fall down in ecstasy, from the creamy and light Eggs Benedict, to the massive and filling House Breakfast with their trademark bacon steak.

And very importantly, breakfast is offered all day long, so you will never miss out on your favourite.

There are also delicious salads on offer – my favourite is the Green with Grilled Halloumi, with delicious grilled Halloumi cheese, avocado, pear, walnuts, and more.

Pizzas, substantial main meals, and fabulous snacks complete the menu.

Their Prawn Spaghetti has been known to cause me serious flashbacks to Italian holidays, but I also developed a serious, but healthy, addiction to their Field Mushrooms.

Delicious sliced mushies, sautéed with spinach and served on toasted organic sourdough with a slice of provolone cheese.

Admittedly, I always double up on the provolone, and can rarely resist a side order or crispy bacon …

Bernasconi’s is a Cafe, so naturally they also serve fantastic coffee and tea. Organic, and delicious of course … so, come on down!
