Even Forbes thinks your CEO should Facebook or Twitter

FacebookIn an article entitled ‘Yes, CEOs should Facebook or Twitter’ (forbes.com, 03/11/09), Forbes declares that Web 2.0 is no longer just for teenagers.

The article by Matthew Fraser and Soumitra Dutta, acknowledges the concerns business have over security and privacy in relation to social networking and the view that it is a time-consuming media with inherent risks.

Nevertheless, they point out that it can be another tool that is ripe for harvesting by clever business organisations to increase productivity, facilitate the creation or maintenance of an open-ended company culture that illustrates it interest in transparency and collaboration.

The article concludes that Web 2.0 technologies allow CEOs, who are often isolated from their employees and customers, to reach out and enhance their credibility by communicating directly and engaging authentically with key stakeholders.
